Take That Willard! Jones’ Boys Are On A Roll!

The last time we beat Holy Cross at home was February 20, 2004. For those keeping count , that is four years ago. As much as we love Jeff Jones, it would have been nice for him to be able to show us in person, as opposed to in Worcester, that he can beat the infamous Ralph Willard every now and then. To his credit, Jones showed he could really coach last night. Everyone on the team shined last night and none of them looked worn out or like they were unsure of what to do. Give Jones credit on this point. Although it can be pointed out that yes, we have played HC twice already this season and the players know their adversary pretty well, this time was different.  For every game we play, or hopefully play, in the Patriot League tournament we are in unknown territory, being the number one seed. This is a new place for us, as is the NIT or NCAA tournaments (we are still guaranteed one of them), but it is not new for Jones. Jones, as a coach, took the University of Virginia to six postseason appearances (five NCAA, one NIT). Hopefully Jones can repeat that magic he had at Virginia with us this year… If you are in town come out Sunday to see AU take on Army who upset someone or other last night.

In other news, I will be gone starting Sunday and will not be back until late the next Monday. Until my return, we are hoping to have a guest blogger to keep everyone on anything important that happens over the break as well as non-basketball related news.
